Which Airport for Pattaya?
Three airports serve Pattaya, and the right one depends on where your flight lands rather than which is closest to the beach. Suvarnabhumi (BKK) is the main international airport and the one most travelers use. Don Mueang (DMK) handles low-cost and regional traffic on Bangkok's north side, which forces a full crossing of the city before you ever point the car south. Highway 3 (Sukhumvit) threads through every coastal town between Bangkok and Pattaya, so it is genuinely slow for a straight transit run. Save it for short local hops, not the airport drive. Where to Stop on Motorway 7

U-Tapao sits in Rayong, about 40 km from central Pattaya (37 km by the direct route on Highway 3) and roughly 45 minutes by car, with Jomtien a touch closer still. It is the centerpiece of the Eastern Economic Corridor's "Eastern Aviation City" project, a major investment designed to turn UTP into a third Bangkok-region hub. Motorway 7's toll lanes come in three flavors, and getting this wrong is the most common way a rental ends up with surprise charges.
